Important Information

We have loved working with your swimmers and look forward to these last few weeks.  Some important information:

#1- We are so excited to announce a special opportunity our swimmers 10 and older have TOMORROW!  John Brooks, the BYU head swim coach will be running a free clinic for our older swimmers during practice from 8-9 am.  He will be working on drills for each of the 4 strokes (about 15 min. for each one).  He has asked that we stick to our older swimmers for this event.  So be on time and ready to learn from one of the best tomorrow!  So exciting!!!

#2- ALL ribbons from all the meets so far are in.  Please see me to get them.  We ribbon to 10th place at home meets.  We did have some events with up to 36 swimmers, so please help your swimmer understand that even if they won their heat there is a possibility that their time placed them differently over-all.  I will post results this evening for Saturdays meet.  You may notice that your child's finish place and ribbon place are different.  I will attempt to explain why (but come see me for further explanation if it doesn't make sense).  We are a rec league and want as many swimmers as possible to swim and ribbon.  In a rec league we have novice to advanced swimmers.  Many advanced swimmers sweep their events every meet.  To address each level of swimmer, the league created A and B times as time standard goals for the advanced swimmers to work towards.  So when each event is done, our ribbon table takes them and puts them in order by place.  Then they look at the time standard for A and B and ribbon those swimmers for those times.  We then move to the next place and award them the 1st place ribbon and so on, so it is possible that if 4 swimmers got A or B times, the 5th place swimmer would be awarded the 1st place ribbon.  The results I post will have true finish order.  If you would like to see what A and B times are, they are posted to the right on this blog.  Our pool is a METER pool, which means it is slightly longer than most of the pools we compete at (they are YARD pools).  If you would like to see what your child's meter time would be in yards, divide the time by 1.11.

#3-  This Saturday's meet is at the Lehi Legacy Center (indoor pool- 123 Center St, Lehi, UT 84043).  Warm-ups are at 7am, the meet starts at 7:30.  This meet will be run on a computer system and I need all entries no later than Thursday night at 8pm. I cannot add late entries, so please make sure I have them on time.  Check in with coaches when you arrive.  Lehi has the parents sit up in the bleacher area.  They have event numbers posted by their bullpen, visible from the parent spectator area, so pay attention to that, we can't throw your swimmer into a different heat if they miss their event.  Bring plenty of towels and water and get there early to find a seat.  To sign up, click here.

#4- County Championships.  There are 3 meets, Gold, Silver and Bronze, the first week of August.  Swimmers will only attend one of the 3 meets and it is based on times.  All 6 and under will go to Bronze.  After this final dual meet, I will be able to tell you which meet your child qualifies for.  The current time standard is posted on the blog.  Your child needs to have attended 2 meets in order to qualify for one of these meets.

#5- No practice on July 24 (Pioneer Day). Last day of practice is August 2nd.  We will have an end of year awards BBQ and pool party on August 8.  I will send out information on pricing for the BBQ for those who wish to attend the dinner portion.

#6- If you haven't already picked up your cap, please see me to get it.  If you have received one but need another they are $5.
