2014 Swim Season

We are so excited to get started on a new swim season at Riverside Country Club.  The following is a bit of information that may be helpful to know about our swim programs at Riverside.  If you have any questions about any of our swim programs, please contact me (Christine Whatcott) via email christinewhatcott@gmail.com or phone 801-368-0779.

Swim Team:
Our swim team has had much success over the past several years, and we are excited for another great season.  We are a part of the Utah Valley Summer Recreation Swim League.  Though we focus on competitive swimming, we have swimmers with a wide range of abilities and welcome any interested children to come try it out.

On June 4 from 8-10:15 am, interested swimmers should come to try out.  You don't need to schedule an appointment, just plan on coming sometime during that period to try out.  In order to swim on the team, your child should be able to swim the length (25 meters) of the pool comfortably on their stomach.  Coaches will be there that morning to watch the children swim.  If your child swam last year, they do not need to try out again; however June 4 will be a day to try on swim suits and purchase any other equipment needed.  We will collect payments and registration forms that day as well.  Because of the large number of younger children on the team last year, we are dividing up the ages a little differently to maximize the level of instruction your child receives.  If you have questions or concerns about your child's ability level, please talk to me.  I am happy to work out whatever is best for your child.

8-9 am- 11 through 18 yrs.
9-9:45- 8-10 year olds
9:45-10:15- 7 and under

The prices are the same for each session.  The younger swimmers will have more individualized swim instruction than the older kids, which is why theirs is shorter.  Older kids also swim longer distances in their sets so they need more time to complete them.

Swim Lessons:
Swimming lesson run in two week sessions Monday-Thursday (8 days).  If there is a bad weather day and we are forced to cancel a day, we will use Fridays as make-up days. Children should be placed in a level based on their ability, not age.  The (soon to be) attached registration form for lessons will detail how you choose the level for your child.  I am happy to accommodate sibling, cousins, or neighbors being in the same class as long as their abilities are the same.  If you are not sure on your child's level, it is better to err on the side of the lower level and then we can bump them up if needed. All the instructors are WSI certified and do an amazing job.  We keep classes small (usually around 4 kids) per class in the lower levels, often times with an instructor assistant.
